We have big news at our house!! We are having a baby! We are due in early October. I am heading into the second trimester and am gradually feeling better. Instead of feeling sick all day I'm only feeling sick in the morning. I am still very tired and have been taking lots of naps. I will say I am very happy and thankful to be having another child but I forgot just how tiring pregnancy can be. I have to tell myself it's okay if I don't get everything done on my to do list. I am learning to prioritize my tasks so that I accomplish the necessary things first and the not-so-necessary things are a bonus when they get done. I can't believe how quickly I am showing compared to my pg with N. D and I took a "baby-moon" (a honeymoon for soon to be parents) to San Francisco when I was five months preggers with N and I was just starting to show. Five months!! I remember being able to wear "regular" clothing for a really long time b/f having to step into Motherhood Maternity to start my quest for tall maternity clothes...I am rediscovering that "tall" and "maternity" rarely co-exist and if they do you have to pay a mint for it!!
We plan on finding out the gender of the baby and will be happy to share it with everyone. The name we choose for the baby will remain a surprise until he/she is born.
At this point N knows that Mommy has a baby in her belly...although he often tells me the baby is actually located in my back. He has talked to the baby a few times. I have lifted up my shirt to expose my belly and he talks into my belly button as if it's a microphone. N says "Hi, baby. It's N. I'm your big brother. What you doing in there?" The other day I showed N sonogram pictures of the baby. He studied them for a minute and said "he's in the dark. Why's he in the dark, Mommy??" (We don't know the baby's gender, but every baby is a "he" to N.) N and I were playing in the guest room the other day and I told N that this room was going to be the baby's room pretty soon. I pointed to the baby crib that is leaning against the wall and I said, "That will be the baby's bed." He quickly ran over to the crib and said "That's not baby's bed, that's my bed!!!" I told him he's a big boy and he has his own big boy bed with cool sheets and a pillow, but he still insisted that the crib is his... So, this should be interesting. I'm kind of glad we are talking about the baby already because I can see that this will be a big adjustment for big brother. I'm sure he will eventually accept having a little brother or sister and will love to play with him/her.
Before signing off I will say that I attempted to call/email as many people as I could to tell them our big news before posting this online. I emailed out a really cute Smilebox card with sonogram photos as our announcement to everyone. However, for some reason, several of them got bounced back to me. I have also discovered in the last couple of days that I am not receiving all the emails that are being sent to me. This is peculiar to me because my inbox is not full so I don't know why this is happening but I hope it gets fixed soon.
Take care
