GI Scan

L spits up every time he eats, almost every time you burp him, really. We have been back and forth to the doctor a couple times to figure out what's going on. The doctor was concerned because L isn't quite gaining as much weight as he should be, so he prescribed an acid reflux medicine. L's been on that for over two weeks and it hasn't done much of anything to reduce his crying or his spitting up, so our pediatrician ordered a GI scan to take a look at L's "GI anatomy" (as the doctor said) to be sure it was laid out correctly. The scan showed that L's anatomy is perfectly fine. L's tummy and all the muscles in his tummy are in their correct places, they are functioning well and his food moves through his tummy just like it should be.. Our next step is to talk to our pediatrician about what other options we have to improve the situation. We sure hope to find something that works for lots of reasons. The main reasons are for L to feel better and for everyone to get more sleep!!!!! L's medical situation isn't really that bad compared to what other children are going through (see below), but the lack of sleep that comes from it is really starting to wear on D and I.

I have been following a friend of a friend's two and a half year old boy, Dax's effort to fight cancer for some time now. Unfortunately the family was recently told that the medical community has done all it can for Dax and he's only been given one to two more months to live. It is so sad!!! It's just not fair. In an effort to support the family and make Dax's last months here the best they can be, people are putting up their Christmas lights for him to look at. Please check out their website and either put up your Christmas lights or send up your prayers for this family....And, as Dax's mom says with every blog entry she posts..."Cherish every moment" you have with your children and your families.
