Friday Funnies: Chicken Pox?

Are those chicken pox all over your body, N? "Nope, they're lady bug stickers. I'm a rock star clown," he says.

Twins!!!!!!

Ha, ha, ha. I knew that would get a reaction out of you!!! No, no, we are not pregnant and we are not having twins! This week our garbage collection company is allowing everyone in town to set out large items on the curb for your designated pick up day. Most people in town are excited to clean their homes and get rid of what they now consider junk, but for some this week is really exciting. My husband is one of those who gets excited because this is prime time for for "Power Wheels Pickin" (PW). We made a family outing of pickin tonight (Do we sound like Red Necks or what?) and were successful. When D, N, L and I were out we found two PW. D couldn't resist and went out for a second lap later and found another PW. He found a Barbie Jeep that is a twin to the first Barbie Jeep we found earlier in the night. After a little inspection, D has determined that all these PW are actually in good shape. All they need is a good cleaning and new batteries. As for D's take on this hobby...He says he's doing this for Mother Nature. He's keepin PW out of the the landfills. So thoughtful.

Remember this post from last year when D started his PW hobby? Well, I should ask D for a new picture of his "collection" because it's much larger than what's pictured on this post. The grass on the lot next door hasn't grown high enough to mow a PW path in it yet, but D and N have got a new project up their sleeves. This past weekend D and N mowed a path in the grass (short grass) in the lot between our house and our neighbors house. They then smooth the path by putting dirt on top of the grass and sprinkled grass seed down. Their goal is to grow a smooth grass road the kids can drive on to and from each others' homes. Too cute!

Friday Funnies: Cheese Its Donuts

Sometimes when the boys and I are in the car I purposely leave the radio turned off. I do the same at home. I find if we have background noise on all the time, whether it be the radio or the tv, our minds don't get a chance to wonder, rest or imagine. I also find that if the background noise is on, the people in the room are not interacting with each other. One rule I have that I stand very firm on (expect on the occasional Friday pizza night) is that we do not have the radio or the tv on during supper....
Anyhow. I say that to say that to say this. I took the boys out for my first solo outing that involved leaving the city limit of the city we live in. Yay me! I left the radio turned off. I found myself in the cutest conversation with N. The conversation actually started in the house. Side notes:I got N's Easter basket out the other day so the Easter bunny can find it when he/she comes. N has been playing with it every day. He's using it to carry cars, monster trucks, snacks and money. Yes, money. He's got about one hundred coins collected at the bottom of his basket. When I told him we were going to the store to shop for shoes he immediately ran out of the room, got his Easter basket and started scooping the coins into his jeans pockets. I was changing L's clothes while N was doing this. I asked N if he was going to use the money to buy new shoes. He said he was going to use his "moneys" to buy some chicken nuggets. I said if he was a good shoe shopper we could get chicken nuggets afterwards. Our conversation went on for a couple minutes. I was dressing L and talking to N while doing so, but was not looking at N. When I was done dressing L I turned around and said "Okay, bud. It's time to get your shoes on." When I turned around I just had to laugh and smile. I wished I had my camera to capture the moment. He had filled his pockets full of so many "coins" that his pockets were bulging and he jeans were falling off. I'm laughing just thinking about it. I said, "Wow, that's a lot of money in your pockets!" He said "Yep, I'm ready to go." (He told me he had 40 pounds of money in his pockets)

We got in the car and the conversation went like this...
Me: So, you're buying the chicken nuggets today, right?
N: Yep, I'm going to give the money to the girls and buy the chicken nuggets. There are four girls that work there, but I'm only giving my money to one girl."
Me: "Oh, okay. Where did you get that money?"
N: "At work."
Me: "Where do you work?
N: I make donuts..chocolate chip cookie donuts and sprinkle donuts and Cheese-it donuts."
Me: "Oh, that's interesting!! Do you put the sprinkles on the donuts?"
N: "Yep, and the Cheese-its."
Me: "Hmmm.. A Cheese-it donut....I think a chocolate chip cookie donut sounds really yummy!
N: Ya, chocolate chips cookie's good, but the Cheese-it's not a donut anymore.
Me:Oh, what is it then?"
N: It's a candle. A Cheese-It candle. You warm it up and it gets hot and it smells like Cheese-it's.
Me: "I bet Grandpa N would like that. He likes Cheese its!
N: "No, mom! you don't eat it! It's a candle. You warm it up and it gets hot and you only smell it!!"

We met my side of the family at a nearby State park to celebrate Easter today. We had fun eating lunch, doing an egg hunt and getting Easter baskets from Grammy and Grandpa. However, all the excitement left us all a little wiped out!! Here is a pic my hubby snuck of the boys and I asleep in the car. Can you find L's reflection in the picture?
