Memorable Valentine's Day
This year's Valentine's Day was one of the most memorable I've ever had. Yes, D was very good about getting me flowers and chocolate. He wrote me a very nice card and we ate a nice dinner together. But, even better, when we visited our new house on V-Day we walked into a kitchen full of cabinets!!! Yeah!! It is so awesome to see cabinets in the kitchen. We designed and re-designed the kitchen for months before we came to a layout that fit our budget. We looked at the floor plan for so long that I just cannot believe that I can stand in front the real thing now. So cool! While we were at the house that day N managed to find the largest cabinet in the kitchen and declared it his "nack" (snack) cabinet.

Primer, Cabinets, Tile, Lights
Several weeks ago D and I took a day to finalize our light fixtures, tile, cabinets and a couple other things while Grandma babysat N. (Thanks again Grammy!) Below is a picture we took that day. It might be kind of hard to make out because there are so many lights on the wall! D is sitting in the front of the picture with his head turned to the side looking at all the lights. Believe it or not, this is only a sampling of the fixtures there are in that store! It was incredible. They have so many lights in the store that they don't have to run their heat at a normal temperature to keep the place warm. It was both amazing and baffling!
Now, fast forward a few weeks to today. All of the cabinets that we ordered the day mentioned above are now sitting in our garage waiting to be installed (pictured below). The tile and grout are done on the first floor and are in progress on the second floor. A primer coat of paint has been applied to all of the walls in the entire house. The painter puts a little bit of the paint color into the primer, so it looks like the walls are done, but they aren't. If you look at the picture of the kitchen (another composite) below you will notice it looks blue-ish grey. That is the primer that is used to prep the wall so that it will accept red paint. According to Shermin Williams priming the wall in this manner will make the red paint appear at its fullest color... I'm sure it will be beautiful.
We had our first (and hopefully only) open house this past weekend. Despite the arctic wind chill, we had a great turn out. Our realtor said there were people waiting in the driveway to see the house when she arrived to open. Ten groups looked at the house that day. Three of the groups said they'd keep the house on their list of potential homes to buy. Today I got a phone call that someone wants to see the house for a second time this Saturday. That's good news, but I'm trying not to get too excited about it. D and I looked at one house a couple of times and didn't buy it. I have to remind myself that just because someone is looking at the house more than once doesn't mean they are going to buy it. At any rate, selling the house seems to look promising. With spring approaching (it will warm up, right?) we are looking forward to people ramping up their search for thier new home...

Accountant in Afghanistan
A few people mentioned to me that my profile listed me as an Accountant in Afghanistan.
I intentionally did not fill out my profile information because I want my personal information to remain ambiguous for obvious reasons. I don't want everyone on the world wide web to know everything about me for safety reasons, etc. However, if you don't fill out your profile the template for career and location automatically selects the first options availble in their system (alphabetically) hence the accountant in Afghanistan. So, I have changed my career and location to something that is still ambiguous, but fun. I think it would be so cool to do what Samantha Brown does (hostess for a travel show) and what place on Earth sounds more interesting than New Zealand? Of course, if I really lived in New Zealand I woudn't need to travel anywhere else.... But, if you are reading this and you know me, then you know where I live and what I do, right?
